PREZ SEZ

ELECTIONS: As decided upon in our September meeting we will be having the election for next years officers at THIS meeting.  If my memory is correct Mark Edwards and Gary Trenner volunteered to head up the  election committee.

BUILDING COMMITTEE:There are tons of exciting things happening right now.  The building committee has been putting in lots of hours getting our agreement for A-7 (old cafe) with the city ironed out so we can proceed with our formal agreement with the current tennent.  We look forward to hearing an update.

ANNUAL DINNER: This is going to be a great time with special speaker Steve Wolf and his wife Kathy Hirtz.  They are both airshow performers and are currently building a turbined powered Lancair 4P.  They have a great time flying places together and have lots to share with us.  COME to the
dinner.  Steven has spoke before and it was very interesting to both pilots and spouses alike!  We will also have a Guy Live - who will perform magic tricks before and durring dinner.

Notes from Last Month's Pic Nic and Other Activities

MEETING WITH CITY OF KELSO

On Thursday, September 8, the building committee met with Kelso Public Works director, David Sypher, following the monthly airport board meeting. The purpose of the meeting with David  was to pursue an agreement with the City of Kelso for the long term lease of building A-7, ( Windsock Café)

Here are the decision action items.

ˇ        The City will take into consideration a pro-rate monthly payment based on the square feet of A-7. The hangars are leasing at $0.16 per SF, and A-7 is approximately 600 SF.

ˇ        The City wants to see an ultimate plan of build out for consideration to lease adjustments when improvements are made, assuming the improvements are deemed useful to the city

ˇ        Jerry Sorrell will discuss the plans with the city inspector Chris.

ˇ        We must have a preliminary agreement in place with the City before John Hardwick will be comfortable about vacating.

ˇ        The City reserves the right to change the lease rate based on changes to the lease terms of the adjacent hangars.

ˇ        The upstairs of A-7 will not be used in the calculation of the lease as it is unimproved.

MEETING WITH JOHN HARDWICK, TENANT OF A-7, (WINDSOCK CAFÉ) 9-9-05

After reviewing the agreement with John, the follow order of events must occur before we can lease A-7.

We must have a written agreement in place with the City before we pay John the $3,500 balance. He then has 60 days to vacate. According to our discussion with John on 9-9-05, he does with to extend to the full 60 days.

FOLLOW UP ON HANGAR LEASE A-7

As of the end of September, it appears that the Kelso Public Works Director is agreeable to a long term lease, at a very good price, with consideration given to rent deduction for building improvements. Latest scoop to be heard at the meeting.

EAA 1111 MEETING AND PICNIC SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 10th

We met at the EAA hangars 44/ 45 for our scheduled business meeting and picnic. Building committee members Dwight Irby, Al Drewry, Mike Lewis and Jerry Sorrell gave an update (see above).

ˇ        Unanimous MSC that the building committee be empowered to pursue the agreement with the city of Kelso for the lease of A-7.

ˇ        Nominating Committee members are Mark Edwards and Gary Trenner

ˇ        The elections of officers will take place in the regular October meeting.

ˇ        The Annual Dinner will be held at the Rutheglen Mansion on November 5th Saturday. This is a new location and time since the last report!

ˇ        The Chapter will seek a mail box on Parrott Way as free delivery as soon as we have an agreement with the city and John Hardwick has vacated.

IN MEMORY OF JIM YLVISAKER

There are Young Eagles donations being made to the chapter in memory of Jim Ylvisaker. A separate account will be maintained for this. The PO Box is Mike Lewis’s business address.

 THE PICNIC!

Yes, there was some rain, but a canopy sort of protected the barbeque crew and the rest of us were in the hangar. Hot dogs, Polish dogs, big dogs, hamburgers with all the toppings, baked salmon, veggie tray, chips, beans, salads, pies, cake,  ice cream and too much more were brought.  Jim Ylvisaker’s wife, Joan, stopped by to give us a “thank-you” cake for our support. In memory of Jim, we had a time of silence before sharing in the cake.

Sam and Sandy had the next door hangar open for a look see at some modifications they are making to their Elite. Thank you Sam and Sandy for the mini-dogs and pop corn!
