NEXT CHAPTER MEETING THURSDAY

7:00P.M., DECEMBER 1, 2005 AT THE KELSO AIRPORT FBO

NOVEMBER 3, 2005 MINUTES OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

Attending: Al Drewry, Bob Taylor, Dwight Irby, Mike and Bev Lewis, Steve Steinhoff, Charlie Rosenzweig, Jerry Sorrell.

The purpose of the meeting was to go over the final details of the annual dinner to be held at the Rutherglen Mansion this Saturday, November 5th.  As of today, we have 33 confirmed attending. We are encouraging the invitation of friends, as this would be a good introduction to our EAA chapter and activities.

Dwight has items donated for the raffle and he encouraged us to bring additional items that would be practical for the raffle

ANNUAL DINNER AT THE RUTHERGLEN MANSION NOVEMBER 5, 2005

From the perspective of the secretary newsletter editor, this was the best, most lively annual dinners we have ever had. Music and magic were provided by “Guy Live and Miz Mary.”  Attendance was over 40.

Our guest speakers were Steve Wolf and Kathy Hirtz. Steve told us about his time in Jordan as a “Captain” teaching aerobatics to the Jordanians and about his relationship with the King, who was a pilot himself.

Kathy covered her newly found love for flying and the desire to fly aerobatics. She is now low level qualified for airshows.  Expect to see her in various shows in the northwest in 2006.

Steve and Kathy have formed Wing Over Aerobatics at Creswell and offer introductory and training flights in aerobatic aircraft.

Earlier in the week, Steve did a first flight in his new Sampson II biplane. This is a second generation Sampson for Steve, as he had built one in the mid  80’s, patterned after the Curtis Pitts Sampson built in 1948.

LIBRARY DONATIONS FROM JIM YLVISAKER’S FAMILY

The family of Jim Ylvisaker has donated dozens of aviation related books to our Chapter. These books cover a range of interests including history, novels, pilots’ handbooks, communications procedures, EAA manuals by Bingles and much more.  Currently, we do not have adequate room to keep all of these materials in the EAA cabinet at the Kelso FBO, but soon we will have our new clubhouse facility on the field, and an expanded library.  The books are in storage at the Secretary’s house. Examples will be brought to the next meeting.

TECH REPORT

What can happen if fuel tanks are not vented properly and the fuel pump does not know this? Find out at the next meeting on December 1 at the FBO.

AGENDA ITEMS

With the addition of A-6 and the upcoming clubhouse, our EAA liability insurance will be going up. We will be discussing a change to the dues in order to cover the basic operational and administrative costs of our chapter.  We will also discuss hangar keepers insurance, in the event we should accidentally damage a member’s property, project, plane, etc. that is being kept in one of the EAA leased hangars.

Notice: Class for A&Ps

There will be a polyfiber course at the Clover Park Technical college,
Aviation Department, put on by the Spencer folks at Thun Field.
This is a "special" course, being offered to the A&P students at the
college, as additional training, and it is also open to the public.

The dates are December 3rd and 4th,  and the cost is $199, which they say
is $50 less than the usual rate, and the next course they offer will be in
the Spring.

If you are interested call 1-800-424-1160.

Next Meeting, December 1st at the Kelso FBO

Board meets at 6 PM , November 30th at Dwight Irby's
