The Program
TBD
Minutes From Last Regular Meeting
A great Lasagna meal by Al Drewry and Pattie Irby!
Young Eagles Report: Mark Edwards will be in charge. We have many scout troops interested in aviation merit badges and we can combine this with a Young Eagles flight. William Todd Heath will handle the registration paperwork. Mark has up to five pilots available. Mark Pearson also volunteered to help. Mark Edwards will contact the scout advisors.
Reno Races Report. Dwight Irby plans to fly his twin there and is looking for a few who may want to go along. Sept 16-20.
Elections for 2010 ands
2011 officers:
Henry Schmitt and the E board have a slate of nominees for the
officers.
President: Dwight Irby
First Vice President: Gary Trenner
Second Vice President: William Todd Heath
Treasurer: Al Drewry
Secretary and Webmaster: Eric Hoppe
Facilities Manager: Jerry Sorrell
By Laws: Jerry will work on a by-laws change which must be done to incorporate the two vice presidents and the facilities manager into the primary executive board. This will be emailed to the membership and posted on the next newsletter.
Membership Drive: Mark Pearson suggested we have a membership drive and invite a new person. Make it a special presentations meeting so it will be an attractive draw.
Another idea, anyone who does not miss a meeting for the year gets a free dinner. . How about some door prizes.
Report on prior fly ins. Arlington was fun as usual. Dwight Irby really enjoyed the Mulino blueberry pancake breakfast fly in. Hank Williams was there too.
Historian: Dwight would like to see the historian position more active. Details to follow.
No one won the pot drawing at $69.00
Tech report: Jerry Sorrell talked about an article in Light Plane Maintenance. It is possible to have a differential compression check as low as 45 #, and be OK, depending on the situation. Both Lycoming and Continental have bulletins on this procedure. Henry Schmitt said that the condition of the spark plugs also tell the story about the engine.
Future big Dinner: Al Drewry suggested that in the future, we have a big dinner night for one of our meetings. Maybe barbeque. Mark Pearson said he had a roaster he could donate.
Food for next meeting: Who will volunteer to bring food for the next meeting in September? See Al.
Fly outs: Mary Ann McClellan notes this weekend Aug 8-9 was the harmonica festival at Yellow Pine eat of Mc Call ID. Jim is promoting a flight to Gold beach or Agnes and take the mail boat run on the Rogue River.
Project Review: We went outside to look at a Cessna 172 and RV-4 that are new acquisitions for two of our group. Henry Schmitt got a Yamaha big twin and now is looking for a side car so he can take his lady friend on a picnic.

Subject: Oak Harbor fly-in
Hi,
We are hosting a Fly-In at our airport (OKH) on Sept 12-13 and
are in need of pilots attendance and for the Young Eagles
program. I had initially gotten confirmation from our local
EAA chapter, but now they are all unavailable.
Our fly-in is open to the public, free of charge, with local area
vendors selling food and wares and 2 local vintage car clubs
participating. We will have a Dedication Ceremony on
Sunday, with the Mayor, City Councilmember and the Chamber of
Commerce all speaking.
Plus, we have 100LL priced at $3.98 and 92 octane ethanol-free
motor gas for $3.24 and are located on one of the most beautiful
islands in the San Juans. :)
I would really appreciate it if you could share the info about
our Fly-In, but most importantly, let me know if any of your
members would be willing to host the Young Eagles program for us
that weekend.
Thanks!

Dear Fellow Pilots,
On Saturday August 29th, the VP of AOPA will be speaking at the
Albany Arts and Air show at 2:20pm.
It would be great if we could have as many local pilots as
possible attend this event.

Editor's Comments
If you have any ideas or comments, please let me know. I want your feedback. The chapter and the newsletter are only as good as the input and the energy of the members. I want your pictures, your stories, your thoughts. Don't be shy!! If you get an interesting link or something funny via the web, please don't hesitate to share it with me.
I hope to make this newsletter a place our members look to for vital information, a thing prospective members appreciate and are motivated to join, a link our fellow EAA'ers around the country look at to keep in touch.
