MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 7, 2-0-6 MEETING
The meeting was held in the A-7 clubhouse width president Charlie Rosenzweig leading. He announced that a slide show of Oshkosh 2006 would be the program
Introduction of guests. Tom Stanton joined us again. He has an interest in building an RV-4 and has been flying rental aircraft at various times.
Exec Board Update: Dwight Irby reported that we have the building permit in hand, and that the fee was discounted based on the value to the city rather than the total value we will put into it. This saved about $200. Gary Trenner has been working on sheetrock. Al Drewry has taken care of some of the electrical and reorganized the location of outlets and switches.
Old business:
Facilities Manager: Charlie presented the idea of a facilities manager to keep track of hangar use, maintenance, upcoming needs, hangar waiting list, etc. This person would be the single point contact for all matters concerning all hangars.
Nominating Committee for 2007 officers: Charlie reported that Mark Edwards and Lee Dines will serve as nominating committee members. Third person will be Dwight Irby. Jerry to e mail the list of current members to the committee.
Review of last Months meeting
Charlie gave a brief review of the effort that went into the search of downed aircraft via satellite downloads from federal to state to local emergency services.
Building committee update by Dwight Irby:
Dwight reported on the installation of cabinets, Formica top, part of the floor, microwave and wiring work. Dwight also donated a full size range and refrigerator which will be an easy slide in installation for us rather than countertop built-ins. Gary Trenner will be working on inside window frames that will also be removable for access to the walls if we have need for wiring, phone lines, , etc. A shower unit is sitting upstairs. Dwight got it for free and as time permits, this project will be worked on. The first effort is to get the downstairs finished out. Jerry is to get some updated fluorescent lights for the kitchen.
Discussion item regarding hiring
professional help for electrical and plumbing.
The building committee foresees the need to have professional help come in for some of the work that ordinarily is covered under permit. Further, the professional help can be more efficient and have skills that are not readily available in our chapter. It was the consensus of the group that the building committee already had an $8,000 budget approved and could proceed.
Entry Porch:
Dwight proposed that we construct an entry porch at our A-7 doorway, to give us some weather protection and be more inviting. Bill Pieper and Charlie Rosenzweig are the porch committee.
More Old business
Charlie spoke on the memorandum of understanding ( MOU) for the hangar use. Currently we have only one MOU in effect for Mark Edwards. The Exec board will further review the MOUs for the remaining hangars and provide the chapter with the recommended MOUs

Tech report RV-9A visit.
We have a national EAA member, Duane Wilson in Lexington,
who is building an RV-9A quick build. I am always amazed at
how much airplane is already done, yet there is still 51% to go!
It looks like Duane has put a lot of his 51% into a beautiful IFR
flat glass panel. With autopilot, he has both heading and
altitude hold.
The little cages around the toggle switches help block the
inadvertent bumping of a switch and also provide a brace for one
finger while the other flips the toggle. If you have flown in
bumpy conditions, you will know the value of a "brace"
for your hand when moving a knob or flipping a switch.
