E.A.A. Chapter # 1111
Monthly Meeting Agenda
July 5th, 2007
(E-Board Meeting Starts a 5:00)
First the Feast: Since its July, we'll have burgers for a nominal donation. Come help celebrate with us!
Program: David Esterline of Oregon Aero is going to give a presentation/ talk on his company and products on July 5th at our meeting. Oregon Aero enjoys a thriving business making your flying more pleasurefull by making the pilot more comfortable. The Scappoose firm is most noted for great ergonomic seats employed by both military and civilian aircraft, but they've an extensive additional product line.
Report on Roseburg Air
Fair Fly Out
Two of our EAA members , with passengers, flew to the Roseburg OR
air fair on Saturday, June 30. Upon entering the 45 pattern at
Roseburg, Dwight Irby in the Cessna Skylane and Jerry Sorrell in
the RV-4 pulled in behind three P-51's in formation. Obviously
they did not catch the P-51's, but it was quite a sight to look
ahead and see these ships bank hard left and make a full-speed
low pass over the field and pull up and up .
Once we were parked, we the saw there were four P-51's. One was a
super-rare P-51 H model. These ships were continually flying
through the day. And to add more warbird excitement, a Hawker Sea
Fury, Corsair, Grumman Hellcat and British Super-marine Spitfire
went aloft. Then a couple of Delfin Jets joined in.
This was an air fair and not an airshow, so the field was never
closed. We suppose the B-25 Mitchell flew but it was time to
return to Kelso.
There was also a full representation of EAA projects. The Lancair
Legacy also had zoom power much like the P-51's
Next year, everyone who possibly can get to Roseburg must see
this fly-in. It outdoes Arlington with respect to warbird
activity.
EAA CHAPTER 1111
CLUBHOUSE A-7 TO DO LIST
To Do List as of June 30, 2007
The main push is behind us, as we have occupancy permits approved
by the building department and the fire district. This completes
the building upgrade and occupancy phase of work that Dwight Irby
promised to do. Facilities management and finishing details are
now the responsibility of Jerry Sorrell.
We do have a number of details and house cleaning items to take
care of to make the facility 100% enjoyable and complete.
Add door knob to door at stairway (Mike Lewis has a box of spares
for us to choose from)
Label all circuits on electrical panel
Shelving and cabinets for upstairs Ylvisaker Memorial Library
Paint molding downstairs at various locations as most of it is in
primer now.
Install plastic panels in light fixtures upstairs. Two in main
and one in shower.
Shower Room: Complete overhead light installation. Install
curtain rod, curtain, and towel rack. Put cabinet door back on.
Install paper towel dispenser.
Move stored furniture from hangar #44 to upstairs
Need coat rack or coat tree downstairs.
Outside.
Outside weather strip and caulk around lower windows.
Finish one upper window metal trim and caulk (Bill Piper knows
details)
Paint the whole works thus summer. (Charlie heads this up?)
Kill weeds
Complete overheard illuminated sign and add LOGO using RPF
material.
Conduit for overhead sign (Al Drewry)
Into the Sunset but not
Forgotten: Lee Dines' life ended about 9 pm Monday July
2nd, with his family ( sons and wife ) around him. Mark Edwards
and Jerry Sorrell were also there. Lee had a peaceful, unlabored
departure.

RECORD OF MEETINGS June 7th, 2007
Minutes from June's Meeting:
EAA CHAPTER 1111
MINUTES FOR THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
JUNE 7, 2007
EAA CLUBHOUSE 2215B PARROTT WAY KELSO WA
Attending:
Dwight Irby, Al Drewry, Bill Pieper
Building and Fire Inspection Complete!
Dwight reported that all the building permits are signed off and
we are also getting a credit for the May 2007 lease payment. We
now will be credited $94 per month until such time that the
$14,600 investment is reduced to zero. Since the building permit
was issued, we have spent one year on the remodel.
Internet Advertising
Dwight gave Jerry a Cowlitz Today internet
information card that will allow us a free spot ad about our
chapter. Jerry or Terry to follow up.
Roof Sign Denoting EAA 1111
Dwight said that the roof sign would cost us $1,375 but the
company would lower the price to cost at $1,000. This is outside
our current income source. Possibly this could be worked out
through plane rides for the company owner son.
Warbirds fly in Aug 3 4 5
Dwight said that Elizabeth Johnston wants to use our clubhouse as
a base of operations for arranging the fly in. Much discussion.
General feeling is no but Dwight will follow up the
Elizabeth. Our Exec group is in favor of having a VIP
lounge for the pilots to R&R while attending the meet. We
would offer food and beverage and accept donations.
Audit for 2006
Still not done. Jerry will contact Dick Woods ASAP.
End Exec meeting which was held in our upstairs meeting area.
CHAPTER MEETING WITH FOOD AT 6:30 AND BUSINESS AT 7:00
The Super Salmon Supper Feast
The super salmon dinner and side dishes were prepared by Mike and
Bev Lewis. Mike claimed he had the most difficult part of the
meal as he had to catch the salmon. We thank the Lewiss for
their super salmon feast. The financial donations for food for
tonight brought in slightly over $132.00. Thank you Chapter
members for helping pay the bills. If we can support the chapter
through donations and other sales, we will not have to raise the
dues.
Meeting at 7:00
Dwight discussed that our building remodel is approved by the
city and we no longer have to make a lease payment. (Note, we
still have power, sewer, water and garbage pick up to pay for.)
Discussion on By-laws Change
Dick Woods said that he would offer to audit the books if the
by-laws more clearly defined what the auditor was to do and how
the audit was to be performed.
This By-Law Amendment was proposed:
ARTICLE 9 FISCAL
Section A.
The fiscal year of the Corporation shall be January 1st through
December 31st.
Section B
During the first quarter following each fiscal year and audit
will be conducted of the preceding fiscal year by a party or
parties selected by the President. The audit will require that a
report be submitted to the Board of Directors and will include
the following; The balance of all Corporation accounts on January
1st, the income and expenses for each month and the balance of
all accounts on December 31st. The banking institution
responsible for the chapter checking and savings accounts will be
asked to confirm account balances in writing.
The above amendment was approved by the chapter by unanimous vote
on 6-7-07. (This matter had been submitted in writing in April
2007 and the Treasurer had discussed this with the Exec board.
Program: Todd Heath
Todd Heath from Yacolt gave a very descriptive presentation of
his Zenith 701 project. Many questions from the group were an
indication of a high interest. Todd also brought the all
flying rudder to display the metal construction. Thank you
Todd for a great presentation!
Food Boss for July:
In July, Al Drewry will head up a Burger Burn for the
meal. This sounds good!
Our next chapter meeting is on Thursday, July 5th at 7:00p.m. at our Clubhouse at Kelso Hangar A7. Join us for dinner at 6:30!
