Minutes From Last Month and the Executive Meeting
The meeting was called to order and we went around the room introducing ourselves.
Happy bucks and pot drawing followed. $95 in the pot, Dick Savold was the 'lucky' person to draw from the bag. Yet again, the red chip was not drawn. Dwight tells us the banquet will have a guaranteed winner. Most present were highly skeptical :)
The banquet is scheduled for November 8th at JT's Steakhouse in Longview. We are looking at $20 per head which covers dinner, gratuity, and prizes.
Officer elections are due for the positions of Facility Manager and Members at Large. Jerry Sorrell was nominated for Facility Manager and Todd Heath and Gary Kessler for Members at Large. There were no other nominations.
The Young Eagles event was supposed to have taken place on the 20th of October. No reports have been made to the newsletter editor at this time. A call was made to the members at last month's meeting for volunteers, pilots and kids.
A request was made to find a quick reference guide to X-Plane and to develop a list of computer hints to post near the flight simulator computer. Hoppe will look into this.
There was talk about a motorcycle ride to McMinville to check out the museum and a flight to Lakeside near Coos Bay. Contact Dwight, Jerry or Jim McClellan for more details.
Todd told us all about a great website called Fun Places to Fly. It really is a nice site. Click here to check it out.
Dick Savold informed us he is the proud new owner of a Sonex kit. We will look forward to pictures.

Interesting Stuff
What is an old Learjet Worth? If is an old timer from the 60's with the engines run out or other life limited components need replacing, it is just useful for parts and scrap. Going price about $40- 50 Thousand. But what if the jet has an interesting ownership history, as does N175FS? The "FS" was the custom "N" number for Frank Sinatra's personal Lear jet. Once this was discovered, the collectors went berserk and have offered the salvage dealer $650,000. The salvage dealer decided that he will choose the new owner based on "negotiations". So, get out your old movie magazines and look for the Hollywood types in or near small planes thay may have owned. Maybe you to could make a 10 times profit and not turn a wrench on it. Maybe not...

Here are a couple of links to some X-Plane stuff
X-Plane is available right now for $39!! If you are interested in getting a copy, this is a great deal!
If anyone has any specific aircraft requests, please let me know. Now that X-Plane is getting more popular, the aircraft are costing money. Generally we can get a plane for about $10. LEt me know what you want and I will do the research. -ehops
